I 1990 malede jeg dette billede over en annonce i Wall Street Journal.

Teksten, på den plakat Marx holder, lyder i al sin dumstolthed:

WE ARE HELPING EASTERN EUROPE TRADE MARX FOR DOLLARS

The Bush administration established an Eastern European Growth Fund to encourage private investment in Central and Eastern Europe. The fund is to be administered through the U.S. goverment's Overseas Private Investment Corporation, and Salomon Brothers has been named both its investment advisor and manager.

We're pleased to play a part in the President's initiative.

While we make markets every day, it isn't often we get the privilege of helping develop a free one.
